John R. Lengel 1950-2026

HOWLAND — John Richard Lengel, 75, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home.

He was born Aug. 16, 1950, in Warren, the son of the late John F. and Ann Vargo Lengel.

John attended Warren G. Harding High School and earned an associate degree from Kent State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

John enjoyed watching sports, especially football, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He collected baseball cards, stamps and Hot Wheels. John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Bell Lengel; children, Julie (Todd Sr.) Callen of Howland, Jon (Cynthia) Lengel of Leavittsburg, Jennifer (David) Young of Boardman and Ian (Stephanie) Lengel of Solon; sisters, Peggy Salvato and Betty Haines; grandchildren, Casey (Andrew), Cheyenne, Hope (Albert), Todd Jr. (Rose), Rehgan, Zabella, Wesley, Clare and Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Everly, Emersyn, Emelia, Remington, Easton and Eli; as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sally Lengel, Carolyn Roman and Shirley Tenney.

Services will begin 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta Township.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any material contributions be made to a veterans’ organization of your choice.
