Harold J. Wilson 1944-2026
FOWLER — Harold John “Willy” Wilson passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Heritage Manor in Youngstown.
He was born May 30, 1944, in Youngstown, the son of Eugene and Jeannette Baumiller Wilson.
After graduating from Badger High School in 1962, he joined the U.S. Army and from 1964 to 1966 was part of the 101st Airborne Division serving in Vietnam. His wife says that the Airborne Ranger “got his golden wings.”
He retired in October 2003 after working 33 years as an assembler at General Motors in Lordstown. Harold never met a stranger; he would help anyone who needed help. He enjoyed attending sports events of his children and grandchildren and riding his Harley. He and his wife loved to travel; their favorite trips were to Mount Rushmore and the Caribbean. Last year, they completed his bucket list by going to Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife, Jonette Patricia “Trish” Roth Wilson, whom he married Feb. 23, 2001; his daughter, Jessica (Jonathan) Dye of Palm Harbor, Florida; his sons, Michael (Sharri) Groover of Niles, John Wilson of California and Christopher (Christina) Bell of Sharpsville, Pa.; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Vincent, Stella, Asher and Jonathan Harold (to be born in June) Dye and Leon Smith II; Joshua and Michael Groover; Chase Bell; Devyn Bell; and Bianca, Hayden and Jaxon Carrico; his special niece, Abigail Hodge; his special nephews, Jacob Hodge, and Remington and Orion Roth; and his brother, Gary Wilson of Howland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Beverly Hayes; and his son, David Bell.
A celebration of life, with family visitation 3 to 5 p.m. and a funeral service at 5 p.m., will take place Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Galloway Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford, OH 44424.
Interment will take place at a later date in Hartford Township Cemetery.
