WARREN -- Clara Core, 96, affectionately known as "Sister," peacefully departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2026, entering into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
She was born July 18, 1929, in Braceville, the fourth child of Wilson and Mattie Wesley Stoutamire.
Clara spent a portion of her childhood in Campbellton, Florida, after her mother's passing Sept. 17, 1936. She lived with her grandparents, Jim and Lizzie King Wesley, and later returned to Ohio.
She married James Core on May 18, 1950. The couple moved from the Liberty Steel area to their home on the north end of Warren, where they raised four children: Victoria Jean, Arlene Colette, Richard James and Scott Conrad.
Clara spent the majority of her working life as a domestic within the household and office of Harold Brodell, M.D. After 30-plus years, she retired and added to her passions: gardening fruits, vegetables and flowers.
She was an avid seamstress, sewing creative intricate blankets, utilizing materials from old clothes, pillows and drapes. Over time she developed into an amazing cook, specializing in elaborate holiday meals.
She was a devoted and faithful 60-plus-year member of Triedstone Baptist Church, where she served as an usher.
She leaves to mourn two sons, Richard Core of Warren and Scott (Anita) Core of Hudson; one daughter, Ms. Victoria Patterson of Akron; five grandchildren she cherished, Damaris, twins Kenzel and Lena, Scottie and Christina; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Malcolm; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Core; parents, Wilson and Hattie Stoutamire; daughter, Arlene Chilton; siblings, Alberta, Francis, John, twin Clarence, Ruth, Mae Lee and Wilson Jr.; and grandson, Damon.
