Betty L. Rowles 1938-2026

BRISTOLVILLE — Betty L. Rowles of Bristolville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with her family by her side.

Betty was born on May 16, 1938, in Clearfield County, Pa., the daughter of the late Fredolph and Clara Malmberg.

She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1956.

Betty retired from the Warren City School District after 25 years of service. She was a secretary at Garfield School and a secretary in the curriculum department.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge 1012 and The Slovak Club, and was a volunteer at St. Joe’s Hospital.

She met her husband, Arnold Rowles, outside a movie theater in 1948. Together they committed to forever on April 23, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Limestone, Maine. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Betty, a deeply loved mother, raised her family with strong family values. She was caring, dutiful, and honest, with a sarcastic but playful sense of humor. She treated her children and grandchildren with unwavering support, respecting each of their unique paths and life choices. She made her family’s home a space for gathering, laughing, speaking honestly and comfort. She never failed to send a birthday card, miss a New Year’s Day without sauerkraut and hotdogs, or play a game of cinch without berating her family and making them laugh until they cried.

Betty spent most of her days alongside her husband, visiting friends and family. She enjoyed reading, watching murder mysteries and spending precious time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband of 69 years, Arnold Rowles of Bristolville; children, Brian (Tammy) Rowles of Rootstown, Arnie (Debbie) Rowles of Bristolville and Chris (Lisa) Rowles of Champion; her son-in-law, Dennis Gordos of Mogadore; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) Jarret, Alyssa (Michael) Good, Trisha (Jeremy) Maheu, Greg Gordos, Brianne (Mike) Manley, Tony Rowles, Matt Rowles, Amanda (Cody) Welsh, Trevor (Kaitlyn) Rowles and Monica Rowles. She also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Liebal of Warren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joni Gordos; two brothers; and three sisters.

The family would like to thank Patriot Hospice Care for the dedicated and comforting care during Betty’s final days.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday.

She will be laid to rest in Sager Cemetery in Bristolville.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Moose Scholarship Fund, 6400 State Route 46, Cortland, OH 44410.
