Teresa Borton Walsh 1967-2026

BROOKFIELD — Teresa Borton Walsh, 58, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, following a six-and-a-half-year battle with triple negative breast cancer.

Teresa was born May 30, 1967, to Carol and Thomas Borton.

A 1985 Brookfield High School graduate, Teresa completed her studies to become a certified dental assistant, followed by her graduation from the dental hygiene program at YSU. Teresa was a highly skilled dental hygienist, working at numerous area offices. She always said her favorite place to work was with her husband at their offices. Teresa’s patients were often heard saying, “That’s the best cleaning I’ve ever had.”

She enjoyed her patients and took great pride in her work.

God blessed Teresa with both artistic and cooking talents. She won numerous art awards throughout her school years. One of Teresa’s greatest sources of joy was gathering her family and friends to enjoy her home-cooked meals. No one ever left her home hungry.

Teresa was a fiercely loyal friend who would stand by your side through anything. If she cared for you, you knew it; if she was angry with you, you knew it. Her no-nonsense approach to life is what made Teresa who she was.

On Oct. 14, 2000, Teresa married the love of her life, Dr. J.J. Walsh. They spent 25 wonderful, fun-filled years together. Their connection was so strong they could often finish each other’s sentences and knew each other’s thoughts. One year after marriage, Teresa gave birth to their son, J.J. III, her pride and joy. Teresa was dedicated to being the best mother she could possibly be for J.J. III.

Teresa was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Leone Borton; her father, Thomas Borton; as well as her infant twin sister, Lisa, who passed away at the age of 4 months.

Teresa is survived by her husband, Dr. J.J.; her son, J.J. III; her brothers, Thomas Borton and Clint Leone; her father, Sam Leone; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Uncle Glenn Brown II, who was of great help and comfort to Teresa during her illness.

Friends of Teresa will be received 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Lane Funeral Home, Madasz Chapel, 6923 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield, followed by a short service from 5 to 5:30 p.m. A dinner will follow the service.

Donations in Teresa’s name may be made to The Pink Fund, pinkfund.org, or to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, awlrescueme.com.

Teresa had a deep love of and connection for animals, and she never seemed to be without at least one pet by her side.

A special thank you to Dr. Antoine Chahine and the staff of the St. Joseph Cancer Center. Teresa loved you all and she appreciated your compassionate care. Teresa fought her cancer battle with strength, courage and a tenacity that never wavered. As such, Teresa’s passing is not a loss to cancer but a victory over cancer. Cancer never broke her spirit or her will. She fought her illness like she lived her life: “full speed ahead.” We take comfort in her victory over cancer, knowing that she is now at peace, fully restored, in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
