Ruth F. Lewis 1930-2026
WARREN — Ruth F. Lewis, 96, of Warren, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, April 16, 2026, in the home of her daughter, Jane, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Warren, Ruth lived a life defined by quiet faithfulness, warm hospitality and a deep love for the people around her.
Ruth spent her career serving the community she loved, retiring from the Howland School System, where she worked as a librarian.
She also gave generously of her time as a longtime volunteer in the gift shop at Hillside Hospital.
A woman of faith, Ruth was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church and in her final years worshipped alongside her daughter at Believers Christian Church.
She found joy in the simple pleasures — swimming, sitting on a porch on a beautiful day, her daughter’s dogs, Roxy and Roger, a good cup of coffee, a piece of dark chocolate and she never stopped talking about going dancing. A lifelong card player, Ruth was devoted to her games right up until just three months before she passed — a testament to her sharp mind and her love of good company.
To those who knew her, Ruth was a role model for how to live a full and meaningful life — one filled with good friends, good trips and an unfailingly pleasant outlook. She met the world with grace and warmth, and those who loved her will carry that example forward. On her recent 96th birthday, when asked the secret to her longevity, she responded: Love life.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George and Fay Fenton; her brother, George “Bugs” Fenton; and her beloved husband, William Lewis.
She is survived by her three children: her eldest son, John (Kim), whose children are Cory, Kurt (fiancee Harvest) and Craig (Madeleine); her son, Dave and his daughter, Brittany (Bryan Stolte) and their children, Brady and Deacon; and her daughter, Jane (Sean), whose children are Emily (Brandon Janosik), Will and Sara (Peyton Aldridge), and her daughter, Hadley.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren, with visiting hours from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family welcomes all who knew and loved Ruth to come and celebrate a life well and fully lived.
In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 979 Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, OH 44420, in thanks for the care and comfort they gave to Ruth and her family.
