Mabel M. Lawrence 1932-2026

She was born June 9, 1932, in Garfield Heights, a daughter of the late Clayton and Hazel Clark Underwood.

Mabel was a proud graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She dedicated much of her life to caring for her home and family as a homemaker. Earlier in life, she also worked as a clerk at Montgomery Ward. She was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed following her team.

In her younger years, she played baseball and basketball for Stavros Jewelry. She cherished her time spent with her husband, whom she met as a high school sweetheart.

She had a deep love for her family and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she affectionately referred to as her “little angels.” She never missed an opportunity to support them and could always be found attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events without fail.

Mabel is survived by her loving children, Bruce Lawrence (Jacqueline) of Cortland and Georgia Schneider; her grandchildren, Jennifer Heckman (Adam), Dr. Nicholas Lawrence (Jacci) and Joshua Lawrence; and her great-grandchildren, Clayton Heckman, Bella Heckman, Zoey Lawrence, Sam Lawrence, Benjamin Lawrence, Leo Lawrence, Jason Lawrence and Jade Lawrence. She is also survived by her sister, Clarice Baugh, and her brother, Carl Underwood.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Lawrence; her parents; her sister, Mary McFall; her brother, James Underwood; and her son-in-law, Henry Schneider.

Family and friends will be received 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483, where a funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, officiated by Pastor David Conrad.

Entombment in Pineview Cemetery will follow.
