Lois V. Stavana 1935-2026

CORTLAND — Lois V. Stavana passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Otterbein Lake Vista. She was born June 30, 1935, in Warren, the daughter of Wilbert and Thelma Druschel.

She graduated from Howland High School and participated in planning every reunion for the class of 1953. She married her husband, William Stavana on Nov 14, 1953; together they built their home in Mecca, where they raised their three daughters.

She was a member of Bazetta Christian Church for 73 years and was the church secretary for over 20 years. She served as a deaconess and in the Christian Woman’s Fellowship, and was also a choir member. She enjoyed baking and was known for her amazing apple pie and chocolate chip cookies. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Guardians, the Cavs and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved watching birds. Her cat, Lucy, brought her so much laughter and joy.

She is survived by her husband, William; daughters, Debra Thoren (Buddy Cochran) of Austintown, Janet Soda and Denise (Joe) Cera of Niles; their five grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Soda, Tyler (Jessica) Thoren, Jesse Soda, Kacie (Tre’) Dorsey, and Carli Cera and her fiance, Noah Olejnik; and three great-grandchildren, Levi, Reese and Cooper.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Doris Day, June Piegowski, Helen Peffer and Beverly Haynie; a brother, Dwight Druschel; and her son-in-law, Charlie Soda.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Bazetta Christian Church, followed by a celebration of life service at 1 p.m.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the entire staff at Patriot Hospice and especially to their nurse, Krystal, and aide, Becky. We also want to thank the staff at Otterbein Lake Vista for their care and compassion.
