John Earl Jones 1940-2026

BROOKFIELD — John Earl “Jack” Jones, 85, entered into eternal rest Monday, April 20, 2026, at home.

He was born July 19, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of Sam Earl Jones and Anne Frances Pieko Jones Sawczuk.

A graduate of Maplewood High School, John served his county honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. A man who could build and fix anything, John worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He worked for Kenworth in Hubbard and finished his career with Waste Management of Pennsylvania.

As both he and Marge were interested in health and fitness, they used to walk and go on 25-mile bicycle rides. They went camping each year in their camper, primarily in the Poconos, bringing their bicycles and the family dog. Their kids would meet them there and everyone had a good time. John was a big football fan; his favorite teams were the Browns and the Buckeyes.

Precious memories of John live on with his beloved wife of 46 years, Margaret “Marge” King Jones, whom he married Feb. 8, 1980; two children, Mark Jones (Leslie) of New Jersey and Theresa Bates (Alex) of Cortland; two stepsons, Brian (Diane) of Sharon, Pa., and Wayne Bayowski of Mercer, Pa.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Maryanne Sawczuk of Zanesville; his brother, Peter Sawczuk of Perry; and other family and friends who adore him and think of him fondly.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his son, John Jones.

Services are private. To honor John’s great life, do a good deed for someone and remember John and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrangements are entrusted to Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483, 330-394-6200. Dedicated to serving your loved ones. This obituary may be viewed and condolences sent at www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
