Janet A. Mann 1930-2026

She was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Bellwood, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Mary Esther Ross Vandevander.

Janet graduated from Bellwood-Antis High School. She was a first-class homemaker, taking care of the details and helping everyone to feel comfortable and loved. She was active with the Howland Fire Department and its Women’s Auxiliary and had served as treasurer for the Bolindale Homecoming Committee. She belonged to several card clubs and was a fan of Penn State and all Cleveland sports. Most of all, she loved family and was always interested in seeing them and hearing about them. She was the last surviving child of a family of 10 brothers and sisters.

Precious memories of Janet live on with her four children, Sharon McGowan (Jerald) of Galion, Donald J. Mann of Cortland, and Deborah Mann and Brenda Gammon (Daniel), both of Warren; six grandchildren, Sherri Means (Steven), Brian J. Mann (Katherine), Ashley Gammon (Shawn), Amy White (Matt), David McGowan and Sarah McGowan; seven great-grandchildren, Joey, Kylee, Jordyn, Jordan, Savanna, Joel and Ellie; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Vandevander of Tyrone, Pa., and Shirley Schick of Leavittsburg; and many nieces, nephews and their families who loved her dearly and think of her fondly.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved husband of nearly 59 years, Joseph J. Mann, whom she married May 22, 1948, and who passed Feb. 11, 2007; four sisters; and five brothers.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where services will begin at noon. All who know and love Janet are welcome to attend and celebrate her lovely life.

Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Cortland.
