Frank E. Binko 1936-2026

WESTERVILLE — Frank E. “Gene” Binko, 90, formerly of Warren, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital.

Gene was born Jan. 19, 1936, in Levittsburg, the son of Frank and Anna Pehanich Binko.

Gene graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in December 1954 and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics in 1958.

After beginning his career with Republic Steel Corporation, Gene retired from the sales team at Thomas Steel Strip Corporation.

In addition to his work, Gene played an active role in his children’s sporting activities, from coaching Little League to swimming teams. He was a lifelong fan of Purdue athletics and an avid golfer in the city golf league and his Saturday group. Gene really enjoyed his travels to Hilton Head Island, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas and Southern California. He was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Gene will always be remembered by his daughter, Cathy (Chris) Morris of Powell; sons, Stephen Binko of Canton, Michigan, and Mark (Danyelle) Binko of Westfield, Indiana; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Stephanie Morris and Carter and Colin Binko; his sister, Patricia Binko of Warren; nieces, Tina (Rick) Lageson and Kim (Nick) Rohm; and many cousins.

Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and sister, Kathleen Law.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Gene 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at All Souls Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland Blackstub Road, Cortland, OH 44410.
