Eldred Davis 1935-2026
WARREN — Eldred “Eldy” Davis passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Cairo, W.Va., the son of Joseph Davis and Eva Moore Davis.
He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy (Ruth Reed), in 1955, and they remained devoted to each other for 62 years until her death in 2017. Both Eldy and Peg were proud graduates of Cairo High School and always looked forward to attending their annual class reunions.
He was a professed believer in Jesus Christ and faithfully attended and supported Austin Village Baptist Church in Warren, where he served as an usher, a Sunday school teacher and an ordained deacon for many years. Eldy retired from Republic Steel (LTV/WCI) in 1998, after 45 years, instilling a strong work ethic in all of his children. He and Peg loved spending time at their home in Petroleum, W.Va., especially the family gatherings where he would grill burgers and hotdogs and make homemade ice cream.
Besides his parents and his wife, Peg, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gay (Biddle) Davis; and a sister, Julia (Davis) Robinson, both of Petroleum, W.Va.
Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories are his daughters, Kay Garcia (Dave) of Akron, Kim Welch (Don) of Leavittsburg and Karen Mamula of Warren; his son, Mike Davis (Carol) of The Villages, Florida; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Deann) Davis of Champion.
