Donald D. Slusher 1941-2026
BRISTOLVILLE — Donald D. Slusher, 84, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Mercy Health Compassus Hospice of the Valley in Poland.
Born July 4, 1941, in Warren, Donald was the son of the late Richard Slusher and Bernice Beckwith Slusher.
Donald graduated from Greene High School in 1959. He married Dorothy Davis on Nov. 26, 1960.
Donald spent 29 years at Brainard Strapping in Warren. He later served his community as a dedicated township worker for Bristolville Township and as a driver for many of his Amish friends. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to those around him.
He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Kim) Slusher and Carman (Diane) Slusher, and his daughter, Denise (Mike) Rang. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Slusher and Courtney (Ray) Fridley; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Rowan, Austin and Lacey; two nieces, Diane (Rudy) Reihard Schlosser and Marcia Reihard; a nephew, Todd (Michelle) Bowers; three great-nieces, Zoe and Ava Schlosser and Rachel (Ryan) Pearce; and two great-great-nieces, Regan Pearce and Hayden Bowers.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Richard Slusher; and his sister, Sandra Mae Reihard Bowers.
Donald enjoyed animals and was an award-winning pony puller. He will be remembered for his quiet dedication to his family, his community and the life he built in Bristolville.
Calling hours will take place 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026, followed by a short remembrance service at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield, OH 44062.
A private burial will take place at a later date in Sager Memorial Cemetery.
