HOWLAND -- David B. Henderson, 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
David was born June 9, 1955, in Clawson, Michigan, the son of James and Sharon Aller Henderson, who both preceded him in death.
David was a 1973 graduate of Howland High School, attended OSU and graduated from Kent State University with a degree in business management and accounting.
David was vice president of manufacturing at Oakwood Laboratories until his retirement in 2024.
In addition to being an avid golfer, Dave enjoyed working in his yard -- participating in the unofficial contest with his neighbor about whose flowers looked the best, playing the guitar and songwriting, and taking vacations on the beaches in Aruba. David, along with his brothers, father and sister, was instrumental in starting girls' softball with the Howland Athletic Club (HAC), where he volunteered as a coach for many years. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who always wanted to take care of anyone in need.
Dave was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church, where he served for years as treasurer, sang in the choir and was a soloist for special music. Members of the church looked forward to his "Hallelujah" solo every Easter. This year he didn't sing for the members -- he sang for all the angels.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories are his wife, Susan (Kotecki) Henderson of Howland; his sons, David Jr. (Krystal) Henderson of Medina, Craig (Demi) Henderson of Champion, Samual Mazzola (deceased), Russell Mazzola (Amie) of Warren and Stephen Mazzola, also of Warren; his daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Babinchak of Howland, Tonya Henderson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Heather Coleman of Warren; his sister, Patricia (Jack) Gilmore of Howland; and his brothers, Michael (Noel) Henderson of Plano, Texas, William (Cindy) Henderson of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Mark (Tammy) of Okatie, South Carolina, and Eric Henderson of Kansas City, Kansas. He will also be deeply missed by his 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with all of his nieces and nephews who were privileged to call him "Uncle Dave."
Services to celebrate Dave's life will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 851 Niles Cortland Road NE, Warren, OH 44484, where calling hours will begin at noon for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to Living Lord Lutheran Church.
