FOWLER -- Ronald Jay Winfield, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.
Ron was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Warren, to William and Gloria Winfield.
Ronald grew up in Fowler and attended Mathews Local schools. Ron worked as a journeyman with the family's business, Winfield Plumbing and Heating, through Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 396 for 36 years; he was known for his dependability and handiness, always able to get the job done. Outside of work, Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all his grandkids; he found joy in being present to enjoy time with family -- whether it be on a beach vacation, camping with his luxurious fifth-wheel camper, having donuts in the office, going to church and visiting with his new church family, or even the simplest thing, like going out to eat. Ron cherished time he spent around those he loved, getting to watch his grandchildren grow up.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Winfield; siblings, Rae Winfield, Debbie Kendrick and Billy Winfield; three children, Heather (Tim) Jewett, Brent (Lena) Winfield and Meghan (Jerrid) Palumbo; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Winfield.
A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, with calling hours 1 to 2 p.m., at Lane Family Funeral Home, Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warren Seventh-day Adventist Church in memory of Ronald Winfield.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
