Rodney B. Armentrout 1945-2026
KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Rodney B. Armentrout passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born July 13, 1945, in Webster Springs, W.Va., Rodney spent his early years in Cairo, W.Va., where he graduated from Cairo High School.
Rodney honorably served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his dedication and compassion in the field. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a tool and die engineer with Delphi Packard Electric, a former division of GM. He dedicated over 30 years to the company, working in both Warren, Ohio, and Clinton, Mississippi, and he was respected for his expertise and work ethic.
Outside of his professional life, Rodney was an avid coin collector and cherished spending quality time with his family. He will be remembered for his kind nature and quiet sense of humor, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Mary F. Ball Armentrout; his children, R. Scott (Sheila) Armentrout and Amy (Robert) Proffitt; his brother, Phillip; and his grandchildren, George and William Armentrout, and Garrett and Emily Proffitt. He also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Lonnie and Velva Hamrick Armentrout; and his siblings, Larry and David Armentrout, Georgia Rollman, Betty Posey, Lura Rankin and Beverly Fahrion.

Rodney’s life and service will be held in cherished memory by his family and friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
