Patty K. Long 1948-2026
NEWTON FALLS — Patty Kay Baker Long, 78, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday night, March 11, 2026, at the Hospice House in Poland.
She was born Feb. 20, 1948, in Middlebourne, W.Va., the daughter of the late Earnest Ray Baker and Masil Gwen Hamilton Baker.
Patty had lived in Newton Falls since 1968 and was formerly of Middlebourne, W.Va., where she graduated from Tyler Co. High School, Class of 1966. After high school, she married the love of her life, Larry W. Long, on Sept. 30, 1966; and they enjoyed almost 40 years of marriage together until his death on June 28, 2006.
Patty was a member of First Christian Church and the Red Hat Society for many years. She was a devoted housewife and loved being a mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Patty loved going to church — singing in the church choir; being outdoors — cutting her grass, doing all kinds of yardwork and gardening; and watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events in town.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Larry Long.
Patty is survived by one daughter, Crystal (Ronald) Vincent of Champion; two sons, Larry Long II of Warren and Kurt (Michelle) Long of Southington; three brothers, Carl Baker of Grand Junction, Colorado, Dean Baker of Middlebourne, W.Va., and Phil (Lisa) Baker of Sistersville, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Samantha, Corey, Justin and Marisa; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Rose and Kaylynn Mariah.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. Cremation will follow.
A second calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Furbee-Williams Funeral Home in Middlebourne, W.Va., with a memorial service for Patty beginning at noon.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Larry, in Beechwood Cemetery in Alma, W.Va.
The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave., Ste. 1402, New York, NY 10018-6588, in her memory.
