WARREN -- Millicent A. Painter, 76, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2026, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
She was born Feb. 18, 1950, in Warren, a daughter of Raymond and Alice Yarish Rek.
A 1968 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Millie retired from Hillside Hospital after a 30-year career as a cook. Millie's passion was for her family, and she was devoted to raising her three sons as a single mom. Through some very tough times, she made it work.
She attended St. James Catholic Church, where she had been baptized and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking wasn't simply her vocation; it was her deep joy, and her pierogies were the best.
Precious memories of Millie live on with her three sons, Douglas (Traci), Larry (Caren) and Kenneth Painter, all of Warren; six grandchildren, Alyssa Painter, Carley Painter, Douglas Painter, Alex Ranttila, Liam Painter and Keeley Painter; four great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kasen, Audra and Carson; one sister, Jacqueline Sable of Warren; and two brothers, Raymond Rek of Germany and David Rek (Mary) of McDonald.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Michael and Joseph Rek.
Services are private.
The burial of her urn will take place at a later date in All Souls Cemetery.
To honor Millie's remarkable life, do a good deed for someone and remember Millie and her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
