Matthew Johnson 1982-2026

WILLIAMSFIELD — Matthew Johnson, 43, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.

Matthew was born March 2, 1982, to Shelly Mines and John Johnson. He was a proud graduate of Joseph Badger High School and went on to attend Kent State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree as an SCI / exercise specialist. Matthew later found his calling as a journeyman lineman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 245. Dedicated to his craft, he completed lineman school while working with Local 245, building a respected career marked by commitment and skill.

Above all, Matthew’s greatest joy in life was his children, Addison Rae Johnson and Alyssa Jayne Terrill. They were the center of his world, and he took immense pride in being their father. He also shared a loving partnership with Jessica Thompson, who stood by his side.

Matthew had a wide range of interests and talents. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and growing trees, always appreciating the outdoors and the peace it brought him. He enjoyed cooking and was known for sharing his favorite recipes with family and friends. Whether tackling a home project, lending a hand to a friend or simply offering advice, Matthew was always ready to help. His generosity, steady presence and genuine kindness made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved children, Addison Rae Johnson and Alyssa Jayne Terrill; his partner, Jessica Thompson; his mother, Shelly Mines; his father, John Johnson; his brothers, Terry Johnson and Sasha Drumore; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Randall Mines; his maternal grandparents, Robert Lee Kaley and Patricia Dunn; his paternal grandparents, Willard and Marie Johnson; his aunts, Terry Dolan and Judy Rabne; and his uncle, Shawn Dunn.

Matthew will be remembered as a devoted father, loving son and brother, loyal friend and a great man known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him. Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, Andover, handled arrangements.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, 6590 state Route 87, Kinsman, OH 44428, with retired pastor Howard Darr officiating.
