Margaret E. Hopkinson 1931-2026

Margaret was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Vienna, a daughter of Paul C. and Daisy B. Lay Smith.

She was a 1949 graduate of Vienna High School and later graduated from Youngstown State University with both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education.

For 25 years, Margaret was a teacher for the Mathews School System, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Trumbull County Retired Teachers and State Retired Teachers’ associations.

Margaret was a member of Vienna United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping and traveling.

Her husband, Edward J. Hopkinson, whom she married Sept. 12, 1952, passed away May 14, 2025.

Margaret will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: children, Linda L. (Nestor) Yannon of Vienna, Jeffrey L. Hopkinson of Golden Valley, Arizona, and Edward J. (Paige) Hopkinson Jr. of Archdale, North Carolina; grandson, Chris (Annie) Yannon; and great-granddaughter, Josephine.

She also leaves her sisters, Paula J. (Joseph) Grenga of Boardman and Marion A. Bish of Houston, Texas.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her sons, Douglas A. Hopkinson and Bryan P. Hopkinson; and her sister, Barbara A. Bish.

Funeral services will begin at noon Thursday, March 26, 2026, with calling hours 11 a.m. to noon, at Kyle Funeral Homes, Vienna Chapel, 4471 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, OH 44473.

Margaret will be laid to rest in Vienna Township Cemetery.
