Kenneth DeWeese 1937-2026

WARREN — Kenneth “Kenny” DeWeese, 88, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Coal City, W.Va., the son of Jacob Andrew DeWeese and Nettie Bell Milam DeWeese.

Kenny was a graduate of Stoco High School, Class of 1956. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and the Ohio and West Virginia National Guard. Kenny was a member of Maranatha Church Cortland and a longtime member of the YMCA. He retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. He was a loyal member of UAW Local 1112 retirees, where he served previously as sergeant at arms and most knew him as the “ticket man.” He attended every sporting event for his grandchildren.

He enjoyed cookouts, bonfires, working out and family functions — he loved celebrating with his family.

He was a kindhearted, devoted family man whose beautiful smile brightened our days. He loved people and life. He was beloved by all.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary A. DeWeese of Warren, whom he married June 27, 1964; daughter, Alesia “Lisa” (Ty) Kata of Bristolville; son, Kenneth “Scott” (Terrie) DeWeese of Bazetta; sisters, Carol Staggs of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Jewell DeWeese of Elon, North Carolina; brother, Paul (Sharolyn) DeWeese of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandson, Randy (Kayla); and great-grandchildren, Colton, Emersyn and one on the way, Jaxon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Aden, Jacob, Grant, Bill and Lawrence; sisters, Ruth, Marion, Bessie, Rita and Judy; and grandson, Tyler.
