ESTERO, Fla. — Jonny Mack James, 56, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026, comforted by his wife and family after enduring a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 8, 1969, in Warren, Jonny lived a life marked by kindness, joy, laughter, generosity, adventure and unwavering love for his family and friends. He graduated from Champion High School, where he excelled in football. Following graduation he attended Potomac State College and West Virginia University, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Sandra James. They married in 1991 and built a beautiful life together, raising two children.
Jonny had a successful career as a telecommunications network technician for almost 30 years. His commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved Jonny.
He found joy in activities such as watching football with his son and buddies, cycling, going to the gym, fishing and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas James of Warren; mother, Sondra Pinney, and spouse, John Pinney of Estero, Florida; brother, Trent James of Seattle, Washington; brother, Thomas James of Warren; and niece, Averie James of Arlington, Texas.
Jonny is survived by his loving wife, Sandra James, who cared for him at home until his last fighting breath; two loving children, Brandon James of Estero, and Paxton James and France Kyle Miller of Fort Myers, Florida; siblings, Tammy Nicholas and spouse, Craig Nicholas of Howland, Mark James and spouse, Monica James of Arlington, Texas, and Jesse James and spouse, Debbie James of Estero; uncle Jerry and aunt Kathy Kistler of Howland; and a cherished grandson, Camden James Miller of Fort Myers.
At the family’s request, a celebration of life is being planned for May 2026 in Ohio and June 2026 in Texas.
