John J. Mallozzi 1946-2026

GIRARD -- John J. Mallozzi, 79, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Humility House in Austintown.

John was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Martins Ferry, to Philip and Ann Carducci Mallozzi.

He graduated from St. Mary High School, Warren, in 1964. He graduated from Youngstown State University in 1971 with degrees in fine arts and education. He worked as a freelance artist and adult art teacher for Trumbull Art Guild.

John volunteered for over 20 years with the SCOPE Senior Center, where he taught adult painting classes to seniors and was a beloved instructor.

John was a licensed addictions counselor, retiring from Glenbeigh Treatment Center in Niles. He was a devout Catholic and actively involved in the Catholic Church his entire life. He enjoyed reading and led Bible-study groups while a parishioner of St. Rose Church of Girard, where he helped others to understand and appreciate the faith. John always believed that a life of service to others was his calling.

John was preceded in death by both of his parents; his sister, Mary Ann Mizicko; his brother-in-law, Bob Kovach Sr.; and his nephew Bob Kovach Jr.

John is survived by his sister, Marge Kovach; brother-in-law, Michael Mizicko; nephew, Greg Kovach (Angela); and nieces, Michele Mizicko, Patty Shields, Debby Myatt and Kathy Allen.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a memorial service at noon, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren.
