JoAnn Markwell 1955-2026
NILES — JoAnn Markwell, 70, entered eternal life Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnn was born April 16, 1955, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to the late Roy Lee and Louise Wright Warner. She attended school in West Virginia, McDonald, Howland and Niles, where her family settled.
Affectionately known as Jojo or Aunt Jojo to many, she was the rare person who truly loved unconditionally, accepted everyone, was hard to anger and quick to forgive.
JoAnn shared a love for the Dallas Cowboys with her son, Roy, and grandson, Landon. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, listening to music, connecting through social media and spending time with her extended family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Robert (Rachel) Markwell and Roy (Ali) Markwell; grandsons, Landon and Ryan Markwell; sister, Carol Rose and her partner, John Reeder; sister, Mary Warner and her partner, Israel Szabo; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Markwell, and their stillborn son, Thomas; her partner, Thamer Wright, and their infant daughter, Ashley Nicole; sister, Sandra; brother, Roger and his wife, Kathy; and brother, Danny.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
