ANDOVER -- Janet G. Jones, 89, passed away peacefully Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by her family, at Andover Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born June 9, 1936, in Williamsfield, the daughter of Ray and Wavie Fobes. Janet graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1954 and went on to work at Johnson Rubber, where she retired in 1998. She was a hard worker, often times working more than one job, and continued working in her retirement years at several local restaurants. Being a longtime resident of Gustavus, Janet attended Gustavus Federated Church.
When Janet wasn't making memories with her longtime friend, Sandi Dillon, she enjoyed bluegrass music, dancing and summer cookouts at the lake. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a true source of joy for her and inspired her annual Easter egg hunt and party.
Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Theresa Jones; her parents; and siblings, Doris Simon, Robert Fobes, Cecil Fobes, Morris Fobes, Phillip Fobes and Wava Abbuhl.
Survivors include her children, Allen (Jeniffer) Jones of Papillion, Nebraska, Brenda Carr of Geneva and Sandra Jones (Jim) of Cortland; four grandchildren, Heather (Erin) Spencer, Brian Jones, Amanda (Justin) Halstead and Frank Behne III; and three great-grandchildren, Jeffery Easterday, Riley Easterday and Zenith Spencer.
At Janet's request, there will be no funeral services.
She willed her physical body to the Northeast Ohio Medical University, Rootstown, to advance medical education and training and further scientific research.
