George D. Bradley 1940-2026

VIENNA — George D. Bradley, 85, graduated to glory and rose to be with his Heavenly Father in his eternal heavenly home in the early hours of Saturday, March 14, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. His children surrounded him at home as he exhaled his final earthly breath and entered his eternal rest.

George was born May 12, 1940, in Tyrell Hill, to Wright E. Bradley and Alma A. Gelbke.

George graduated from Fowler High School in 1958 and later furthered his education at Youngstown State University.

On June 4, 1960, George married his love, Nancy Lee King (“the bride of his youth, the bride of his middle age and the bride of his old age”), whom he fell for at the Cortland Roller Rink and with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. They are now joyfully reunited.

George was a godly and faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was also a hard and dedicated worker.

George retired from WCI Steel after 39 ½ years of service. He and Nancy managed the family greenhouses / nursery for many years, as well as the tree farm. A natural handyman, George could fix anything. He enjoyed gardening, dancing, traveling, hunting, helping others, acting goofy and spending time with family and friends. He also loved two kinds of pie, hot and cold, which is befitting, as he departed this life on National Pi Day.

He was part of a quartet known as the “New Road Travelers,” visiting a few local nursing homes monthly, singing hymns and playing his washtub bass for the residents, who thoroughly enjoyed their music and sense of humor. His laughter and playful spirit were contagious.

George attended Pleasant Valley Church for many years and had a heart for missions. George and Nancy learned Spanish to minister and share the Gospel with the people of the Latin American countries they would evangelize. “Jorge” spoke fluent “Spanglish,” once asking a waitress in a local Mexican restaurant if she ever received Jesus Christ into her meat (carne), instead of heart (corazon). His passion was to reach souls for Christ and lead them to eternal salvation. George and his wife’s missionary travels led them to Mexico, Guatemala, Haiti, Bolivia, Argentina, Alaska and the Dominican Republic. George, along with his wife, had a tremendous gift of hospitality and hosted many missionaries from all over the world in their home. He and Nancy founded the Fair Outreach Ministry and participated in the Trumbull County Fair for over two decades, as well as the Canfield Fair. Through their relationship with a missionary in Mexico City, the fair ministry has now spread to the largest fair in Latin American countries, the National Fair of San Marcos.

George’s hospitality and evangelistic zeal led many to salvation and faith in Jesus Christ. He was a very social and extremely selfless person.

George is survived by his five children, Dan (Vanessa), Richard (Lisa), Deb Prenslow, Darlena, and Dawn (Joe) Pizza; five grandchildren, Josh, Emily, Nathan (Kayla), Kaden and Grayson; and three great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Charles; and two sisters, Shirley and Pat. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved grand-hound dog, Yogi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his “Honey Pie,” Nancy, who passed Nov. 20, 2025; his son-in-law, Todd Prenslow; and three brothers, William, Jack and James.

George will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but know he is rejoicing in Heaven now. His love for Christ and for others was truly tangible and enduring; he lived with eternity in view and finished the race well as a good and faithful servant.

Life is but a vapor; make your days count for what really matters — eternity. Selah.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (NIV)

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

The family of George would like to extend their gratitude to Patriot Hospice at Home for their compassion in caring for our dad.
