Paraskeve ‘Peggy’ Kontos 1936-2026

WARREN -- Paraskeve "Peggy" Kontos, 89, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Warren, a daughter of the late John and Angela Condoleon.

Peggy was a 1954 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. During high school, she worked at her father's grocery store, The National Market.

In 1955, Peggy married the love of her life, George N. Kontos. They shared 53 wonderful years together. She later worked with him building his plating company, Wetzel Plating Company.

Peggy was dedicated to her faith as a lifelong member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. She served on the ladies' Philoptochos society, was a member of the ladies' Chiotiko Club, and was a member and president of the Daughters of Penelope. She also delivered Mobile Meals for many years.

Peggy remained active over the years and loved reading and playing games on the computer. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and her loving presence will be deeply missed.

Peggy is survived by her three children, Anna (George) Halkias, Nicholas (Lana) Kontos and Angel Ploumbis, with whom she made her home; five grandchildren, Eleni (Peter) Dedousis, Paras (Blake) Copenhaver, Constantine Gabriel Ploumbis, Vasilia Ploumbis and Paras Kontos; and four great-grandchildren, Anna and Konstantine Dedousis, and Liam and Caleb Copenhaver. (We love YOU more!) Peggy also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Michael (Tina) Condoleon; in-laws, Nick and Anna Kontos; sisters-in-law, Marika (George) Bourekis, Argyro (Steve) Lagos, Irene (Gus) Bogas, Rhea (Terry) Bournias and Bessie (Pete) Sfikas; and brother-in-law, Michael (Bessie) Kontos.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Peggy from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, OH 44481. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Constantine Valantasis and the Rev. Demetri Constantine presiding.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Peggy's name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, OH 44481.
