Matthew John Samu 1979-2026
STRUTHERS — Matthew John Samu, son of Jill Samu and the late John Samu, 46, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Matt was born April 3, 1979, in Youngstown and lived in Howland with his family throughout his school years. He was a graduate of Howland High School, where he participated in different activities, excelling in wrestling.
He became a carpenter by trade and resided in Struthers. Matt completed many beautiful renovation projects throughout the years.
Matt loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, kayaking, and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He was a kind man with a gentle soul and enjoyed helping people, especially those in need.
Besides his mother of New Port Richey, Florida, he leaves his older sister, Jenn Samu-Herbert (Steve); niece, Lauren of Commerce Township, Michigan; and his older brother, Scott (Bethany) of Columbus.
Matt will be missed by all.
There will be no services.
His ashes will be placed next to his dad, whom he loved and missed dearly.
