NILES -- Mary Lou Etherington, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at her residence.
Born May 18, 1946, in Youngstown, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late John R. Luther and Leona B. Costlow Luther.
A proud 1964 graduate of Chaney High School, she went on to dedicate 30 years of hard work to Delphi Packard Electric, where she worked on the assembly line until her retirement in 1996.
Mary Lou was a woman of faith and a devoted member of St. Pope John XXIII Parish-Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niles. She found her greatest joy in her family and was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, William H. Etherington, whom she married April 27, 1974, and who preceded her in death Oct. 28, 2023.
Her legacy lives on through her children, Michael Foley (Kelly) of Niles, Patricia Huffman of Warren and Melissa Wimer (Nik) of Niles. She was the cherished grandmother of Shawn Huffman (Erin), Nathan Wimer, Calyn Wimer (Pariss) and Stephanie Watt. Her spirit also shines bright in her great-grandchildren, Noah, Joshua, Liam, Wyatt, Mason, Bella and Kristian.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brother, John Joseph Luther; and her sister, Patricia Ann Luther.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the 10:30 a.m. prayer service on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, Niles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at St. Pope John XXIII Parish-Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niles.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
