WARREN -- Kathryn P. Dunbar, 84, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at Cortland Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Buckhannon, W.Va., a daughter of the late Clark Heavner and the late Vera Reed Heavner.
Kathryn retired after 25 years of employment in the food service department at Maplewood High School as the head cook. She also worked at the Johnson Rubber Corporation for 10 years. She was a member of the Greene Volunteer Fire Department, where she was one of the first women to receive emergency medical technician certification. Kathryn was also a member of Greene Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are her three sons, Lewis (Kellie) Dunbar of Andover, David (Jennifer) Dunbar of Greene and Mark "Pete" Dunbar of Warren; daughter, Beth Dunbar of Warren; former daughter-in-law, Sheila Dunbar; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Edith Garner of Grafton, W.Va., and Stephen Heavner of Chillicothe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Ronald L. Dunbar, whom she married Oct. 3, 1964; daughters, Vicki Dunbar and Toni Wells; and siblings, Betty McCourt, Marion E. Heavner, Margaret Dotson, Helen Keener, Darrel Heavner and Harold "Ed" Heavner.
Private graveside services were held in the Greene Township Cemetery chapel.
The family requests that material contributions be made to the Greene Volunteer Fire Department, 2077 Kinsman Road NE, North Bloomfield, OH 44450, in her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
