WARREN -- George John Popescu, 82, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at Windsor House-Champion, surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Warren, the son of George P. and Elizabeth C. Calciu Popescu.
George retired from Packard Electric after 35 years of service. He enjoyed dancing, music, especially Elvis, and model trains. George was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians. He loved history, watching the TV shows "Ancient Aliens" and "Oak Island," and traveling to all 50 states. He was a devoted Christian man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Louanna Popescu; sons, George (Christine Johnson), Christopher and Gregory; daughter, Amy Popescu; grandchildren, Drake (Maria), Brooke (Skylar), Jeremy (Brooke), Bryce, Cory, Addison, Alex and Aedon; great-grandchildren, Semora, Cienna and Saylor; and nephew, Darrell Eddie Copenhaver; along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant siblings.
Private services were held.
He was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
