CORTLAND -- Clinton L. Burgan, 72, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1953, in Alexandria, Virginia, a son of the late Herbert Lee Burgan and the late Eleanor Carter. On Feb. 8, 1992, he married Marjorie Pertz.
Clinton was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended Cuyahoga Community College. He was employed as a machine operator at Delphi Packard Electric. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War.
Clinton was a member of Cortland Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing and meticulously caring for his yard. He coached sports for his kids and was also a Scoutmaster. Clinton also enjoyed racing and demolition derbies. He was a talented handyman who could fix anything, loved listening to music and dancing, and had a passion for life that was felt by those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Burgan of Cortland; children, Margie (Joe) Klare of Avon Lake, Violet (Lynn) Burgan of Shelby, Stephanie Taylor of North Ridgeville, Kellie (Bach) Watkins of Florida, Susan (Richard) Racut of Sullivan, Crystal Scheid of Elyria and Clinton (Samantha) Burgan II of Cortland; grandchildren, Eric, Samantha, Gregory, Tabitha, Amanda, Andrew, David, Sarah, Daniel, Gracie, Jackson, Annelyse, Seth, Michael, Eleanora and Brien; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Braylon, Braxton and Enzo, sisters, Janet Houck of North Carolina, Sandra (Butch) Stout of Cleveland and Brenda (Danny) Carroll; and brothers, Curtis (Beth) Burgan of Cortland and Jeffrey Burgan of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herbert Burgan; sister, Sharon Burgan; and granddaughter, Hannah Watkins.
Carl W. Hall Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements for cremation.
A ceremony will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Champion Township Cemetery.
