Betty Jane Fickes 1942-2026
LEAVITTSBURG — Betty Jane Fickes, 83, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
She was born April 30, 1942, in Warren, the daughter of the late Warren Thomas Barnes and Nora Belle Tift Barnes.
Betty married her first husband, Harold Eastman Jr., on Nov. 30. 1957; they enjoyed 37 years of marriage together until he passed away on March 12, 1994.
She married her second husband, William Wade Fickes, on March 5, 2011; he survives.
She lived in Leavittsburg her whole life and graduated from Leavittsburg High School in 1960. Betty worked for Packard Electric for 30 years as an Artis cutter and retired in 1990. She enjoyed roller skating and drag racing, but most of all, she loved being a mother and raising her four children.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Eastman Jr.; two brothers, James and Royal Barnes; and one grandson, Richard Lee Eastman Jr.
She is survived by her husband, William W. Fickes of Warren; two daughters, Penny (Bruce) Lambe and Kimberlee (Don) Earl, both of Warren; two sons, Harold (Linda) Eastman III and Richard (Mary) Eastman, both of Leavittsburg; one stepdaughter, Sherry (Brian) Alfred of Braceville; two stepsons, Mark Fickes of Newton Falls and Jeff (Robin) Fickes of Rock Hill, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at the James Funeral Home, Newton Falls, with the Rev. Jennifer Dorn officiating.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest in Pine Knoll Cemetery, Warren Township.
