BAZETTA -- Aloma Dolores Starr, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at Hospice House.
She was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Dayton, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry Sloan and the late Annie Edwards Sloan.
On Jan. 26, 1946, she married the love of her life, James E. Starr, and they spent 66 years together until his passing in 2013.
Aloma was a longtime member of Bazetta Christian Church and volunteered with Contact, where she was a listener and eventually a trainer and instructor.
She enjoyed antiquing with her husband. They would travel all over to garage sales and auctions, looking for inventory for their booth at Auntie's Antiques. Aloma also enjoyed baking, gardening, maintaining her flower beds and keeping an impeccable home. Most of all, she loved time spent with her family.
Aloma loved her God, then her husband and family, with the same unconditional love that the Father had bestowed upon her. She accepted and welcomed each member of her family as they came and just as they were.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Linda (Carl) Bliven of Bazetta; sons, William (Mary Ann) Starr of Denton, Texas, and Thomas (Brenda) Starr of Howland; grandchildren, Amy Starr, Nicole Starr, Thomas (Karrie) Cadle, Kimberly (William) Patrick, Stacey (Paul) Franklin, Shane Starr and Steven (Eleana) Hall; as well as 16 beloved great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; brother, James Sloan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Edward Starr; parents; grandchild, Sean Hall; brothers, Laurence, Herb and Ernie; and sisters, Jenny and Lelia.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where the Rev. David Chafin will officiate.
Friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest privately in Sager Cemetery in Bristolville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that material contributions be made to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514; or to the Alzheimer's Association, ALZ.org, in her memory.
