WARREN -- Thomas "Tom" Parnell, 51, passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, following a yearlong struggle with cancer. Though his illness was difficult, the year was also filled with meaningful time spent with his family and close friends.
Tom is survived by his wife of 12 years, Veronica, and their three children, Mackenzie (Miles), William and Logan. He is also survived by his children, TJ (Janelle) and Andrew.
Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps; he served his country with honor. Tom was awarded the following decorations for his bravery and courage: the National Defense Service Medal; the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; the Southwest Asia Service Medal; the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Kuwait), the Navy Unit Commendation Medal; the Good Conduct Medal; the CMC Certificate of Commendation (Rifle Marksman); and the Naval Aircrew Wings. The discipline and dedication he gained during his military service were evident in every aspect of his life, especially in his role as a provider and protector for his family. Tom, who was a man of many skills, when not spending time with his family, could be found in his garage or the great outdoors. A dedicated marksman and an avid hunter, he found peace in the woods and precision at the range. He took great pride in the craft of reloading his ammo, a hobby that reflected his calm nature and his appreciation for doing things the right way. A man of few words but great impact, Tom lived his life with the honor of a Marine and the heart of a protector. Though he faced a grueling yearlong battle with cancer, his illness never wavered his spirit. He met every trial with quiet, steady faith, trusting in God's plan until the very end. He leaves this world not as one who was defeated but as one who has found ultimate healing in the arms of his creator.
