GARRETTSVILLE -- Mary C. Mitchell, 81, formerly of Garrettsville, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at Kensington Care Center in Aurora.
She was born Sept. 13, 1944, in Somerset, Pa., the daughter of the late Floyd Earl Dove and Margaret Gowns Dove. Mary lived in Garrettsville for over 38 years, formerly of Conneaut Lake, Pa., and Somerset, Pa. She graduated from Somerset High School in the Class of 1962. After high school, she married the love of her life, Robert Wayne Mitchell, on Sept. 9, 1962, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage together until his death on Oct. 26, 2022.
Mary worked at Geauga Industries in Middlefield as a press operator for 18 years until the plant closed in 2007.
She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, watching football (especially the Philadelphia Eagles), watching the Cleveland Indians baseball games and babysitting the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Mitchell; one daughter, Becky Mitchell; two brothers, William and Glenn Dove; and two sisters, Sally Stahl and Donna Nace.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Savitts (Billy Beggs) of Warren; one son, Shawn and Lorrie Mitchell of Streetsboro; one sister, Marian Thomas of Somerset, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no services.
The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, in her memory.
