Edward Allen Vasbinder 1948-2026
WARREN TOWNSHIP — Edward Allen Vasbinder, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.
He was born March 29, 1948, in Warren, the son of the late Howard Edward Vasbinder and Irene Ivadel Schroyer Vasbinder.
He was a 1966 graduate of Leavittsburg High School and a longtime resident of Warren Township.
Ed lived a life rooted in care for his family, his work and the natural world around him. He had a lifelong fascination for science, engineering and history, along with a remarkable attention to detail. He believed in understanding how things worked and in doing things the right way — values that guided every part of his life.
That belief led Ed to establish his own steel fabrication company, VAS Industrial Design Corporation, a venture built on craftsmanship, integrity and precision. Through his work, he took pride not only in solving complex problems but also in mentoring others and building something that would endure. His professional legacy is reflected in both the machines he created and the people he worked alongside.
That same thoughtfulness shaped his hobbies. In his woodworking, Ed valued precision and craftsmanship, creating pieces meant to last. In his garden, he found a different kind of satisfaction — working the soil, tending plants and watching steady effort turn into quiet beauty. Time spent outdoors brought him peace and he felt most at home with dirt on his hands and the rhythm of nature around him.
Above all else, Ed loved his family. He showed that love through reliability, gentle guidance and being present for the moments that mattered. He shared 57 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Darlene, and was a devoted father to Eric Vasbinder (Amy), April Goshe (Nick) and Adam Vasbinder (Elizabeth). He was a proud grandfather to Lillian, Tait, Wyatt, Blake and Sabrina, encouraging curiosity and kindness in each of them.
Ed also had a deep affection for animals and a natural gentleness that they seemed to sense. His compassion extended easily to all living things, reflecting his belief in treating the world with respect and care.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Irene Schroyer Vasbinder, and his sister, Jackey.
Ed will be remembered for his quiet humor, careful listening and memorable presence. His legacy lives on in the family he nurtured, the things he built, the gardens he tended and the love he shared so freely.
