HUBBARD -- It is with deep sorrow and enduring love that we announce the passing of Dominick A. Guarino, 68, who passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
Dominick was born Dec. 23, 1957, in Warren, the son of Joseph and Susan Menegos Guarino.
He attended St. Rose Church and School in Girard, graduated from Girard High School in 1976 and studied at Youngstown State University. He later completed training at the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy and the Ohio State Patrol Academy.
Dominick worked briefly at Republic Steel before dedicating 30 years of service as a police officer with the Brookfield Township and Hubbard Township police departments. He retired in 2016 with the rank of sergeant in a career marked by commitment, integrity and service to his community.
Outside of work, Dominick found joy in fishing, hunting, woodworking, carpentry and gardening -- especially tending to his fig trees -- as well as baking, winemaking and taking trips to the casino. He was especially known for his Christmas cookies, his famous Ho Ho cake and his special treats for the grandkids. A natural prankster, he was equally known for his quick wit and dry sarcasm.
He was a member of the Optimist Club, FOP 85 Hubbard Township and the Moose Lodge.
Above all else, Dominick was devoted to his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jacquelyn M. Ford-Brown Guarino, whom he married April 1, 1987; his sons, Billy (Jennifer) Brown of Ravenna and David J. (Emilie) Brown of Hubbard; and his six grandchildren, Lexie, Taylor, DJ, Caleb (Lauren), Rylee and Alessia.
He is also survived by his mother, Susan Guarino of Girard; his siblings, Joseph (Sandra) Guarino of McDonald and Susie (Ken) McKeithan of Summerville, South Carolina; his sister-in-law, Cyndi Clark of Brookfield; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends; and his beloved cat, Tony.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Guarino, and his cat, Albee.
Dominick taught us how to love deeply -- far more than any obituary could fully express.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, with calling hours 10 a.m. to noon, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home. A mercy lunch will follow.
Inurnment will take place in Brookfield Township Cemetery.
