NEWTON FALLS -- Barbara Shommer, 95, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025.
She was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Vernon, the daughter of Carl and Callie Garwood Shommer.
Barbara graduated from Vernon High School before the family moved to Vienna.
She was employed as a dental assistant for 13 years, before the Lord called her to be his Servant.
Barbara left for Asbury College in Lexington, Kentucky, graduating with a degree in Christian Education.
She began teaching the Bible in the public schools until it was outlawed in the southern states, where she taught in the 1970s. Barbara would return home and begin teaching at Howland Christian School.
Barbara was a member of North Mar Church in Warren.
She leaves her sister, Yvonne Mulidore of Newton Falls; her nephew, Brian Mulidore; and her niece, Michelle Mulidore.
Donations may be made in memory of Barbara to the Animal Welfare League.
Barbara will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hermitage, Pa.
