Anna Marie Capito Pecorelli 1929-2026

WARREN -- Anna Marie Capito Pecorelli, 96, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.

Anna was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Warren, one of four daughters to Guy and Raefale "Rachel" Toto Capito.

Anna graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1947. Anna was co-owner with her husband, Joseph Guy, of Pecorelli's Hoagie Shake for close to 19 years, which was considered by many to be a favorite Warren sub sandwich shop.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Anna was a very strong, independent, resilient woman who generally insisted on doing things her way first, always resisting help or asking for help, preferring instead to do things her way first before accepting help. She was the first and last to speak up and was not afraid to offer an opinion, even when it was not wanted, but you got it anyway, and not always at the best time. She was kind and shared what she had with others. There was always a place and plate at the dinner table for family and friends, including her children's friends, even welcoming them into her home when they had nowhere else to go.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was an avid reader and enjoyed talking about old-time Warren, including the "Flats," the old "Jungle Inn" and other clubs she was not supposed to attend.

She enjoyed cooking for the family and at holidays. She especially enjoyed having family and friends around the dinner table playing cards or dice after holiday dinners. She and family members often recalled our infamous Aunt Mary, who had a reputation for bringing excitement to the dice games.

She often volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul with her brother, Greg, and older sister, Mary Josephine. She just enjoyed her family.

Anna is survived by her sons, Joseph (Judith) of Warren and David (Sally) of Leesburg, Florida; and daughter, JoAnne M. Pecorelli of Warren. She leaves grandchildren, Joseph Dominic Pecorelli (Laura) of Gainesville, Georgia, Matthew Gregory of Warren, David Joseph Pecorelli (Kristen) of Brunswick and Gregory (Alexi) of Newton Falls. She leaves seven great-grandchildren, Cara and Joey of Brunswick, Dominic and Giulia of Sharpsville, Pa., Sofia and Niko of Newton Falls, and the latest addition, Lorenzo of Gainesville, Georgia.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Guy Pecorelli, whom she married Sept. 25, 1948, and who passed away March 19, 1994; her brothers, Gregory D. and Guy "Pint" Capito; and her sisters, Mary Josephine Nicopolis, Gloria Young and Antonetta "Toni" Capito.

The family wants to thank Ohio Living Hospice and their wonderful staff, Jenn and Heidi; social worker, Keri; our mother's aide, JoAnn; and the Jewish Community Center.

Last, we want to thank the "village" of caring people and community organizations who helped us care for our family member. A reminder to all of us, especially today, that it does take a village of caring people coming together to care for others.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Anna 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at noon with the Rev. Edward Stafford presiding.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Ohio Living Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Road, Building E, Suite 201, Canfield, OH 44406; the Jewish Community Center www.jccyoungstown.org; or St. Vincent de Paul,svdpneo.org.
