WARREN -- Alberta M. Smalley, 93, formerly of Warren, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at Eden Vista of Stow, where she had resided since May 2020.
Alberta was born Sept. 23, 1932, the daughter of Albert and Helen Ott.
She grew up in Howland, proudly graduating from the high school in 1950. The home she grew up in was located on the site of Avalon Inn. After graduating from high school, she worked in the office of Beneficial Finance in downtown Warren. Alberta enjoyed her job very much; however, another enjoyment was buying clothes and shoes in the thriving downtown of Warren during that era. She would often say that the years between high school and marriage, enjoying time with her girlfriends and traveling, were some of the best years of her life, and she wouldn't trade them for anything. Alberta married the late Richard L. Smalley on Sept. 10, 1955, and they had one child, Marsha. Alberta spent the greatest share of her life as a homemaker, a role she took very seriously.
Surviving are her daughter, Marsha DiAntonio of Stow; two grandchildren, Gina (Jeff) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and John of Parma; as well as four great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Colton, Elliana and Benjamin.
Her son-in-law, Randal DiAntonio, preceded her in death.
Per Alberta's wishes, cremation is taking place. Private family services will be conducted at a later time.
A heartfelt thank you is warranted to the nurses and caregivers of Eden Vista of Stow, as well as Crossroads Hospice, for their kind and gentle care of Alberta. The family requests that monetary donations in Alberta's name be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Uniontown, OH 44685.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483, 330-394-6200. Dedicated to serving your loved ones. This obituary may be viewed and condolences sent to www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
