LEAVITTSBURG -- Wilbur R. "Will" Garland, 89, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Newton Falls, the son of Roy E. Garland and Florence Henry Garland.
Will was a veteran of the United States Navy. He earned his bachelor's degree from Moody Bible Institute. He worked as a mason for 43 years at Copperweld Steel and as a minister for 45 years at Howland Baptist Church and Solid Rock Ministry church in Newton Falls.
He loved playing basketball in high school, fishing, playing the guitar and drums and going on vacations with his family.
Will is survived by his wife, Barbara McWilliams, who together were given a second chance at love; they have been married since 2022. He is also survived by daughters, Diane (Art) Parks, Wendy (Randy) Watson, Melinda (Sue) Garland and Laura (Michael) English; son, Gary (Beth) Garland; stepsons, Matthew, Paul, Stephen and Daniel McWilliams; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 64 years, Betty Garland; 11 siblings; and two step-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at Life Church of Leavittsburg, where Pastor Rodney Mullins will officiate. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at Life Church of Leavittsburg.
He will be laid to rest in Braceville Township Cemetery, Braceville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
