WINDHAM -- Samuel "Blue" Byich, 90, went home to his Lord and Savior with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025.
He was born July 2, 1935, in Nanty Glo, Pa., the son of the late Peter and Mary Grant Byich.
He was a graduate of Nanty Glo High School, belonging to the class of 1954. Sam went on to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, Marcia Seese, on May 9, 1959, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ehrenfeld, Pa. The couple moved to Windham, where they have resided ever since. Sam joined the Windham Knights of Columbus Council 4433 in 1959 and was a faithful parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church, which was also located in Windham. He was previously active in the Windham Athletic Boosters and coached Windham youth. He loved to play the slots. Sam also loved attending sporting events, especially those involving his grandchildren, who were the joys of his life. He was an avid fan of the Windham Bombers, Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sam will forever be missed by his children, Patti (Jim) Tutor and Tom (Brenda) Byich; grandchildren, Todd Williams, Brandon Tutor and Kayte Miller (Josh); great-grandchildren, Kase, Kohler and Malawna; sister, Mildred Fenchak; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Marcia Byich; brothers, Louis Byich, Paul Byich and Pete Byich; and sister, Mary Byich.
Please join the family for a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Sam will be buried privately on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, in Windham Township Cemetery.
