Ronald K. Jones 1941-2025

HARTFORD -- Ronald K. Jones born Feb. 9, 1941, at home in Hartford, to Kenneth and Ruth Brown Jones, was a longtime resident of Fowler and Vienna and passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2025.

Ron was a lover of the outdoors with a passion for hiking in the woods. In addition, he liked hunting deer, turkey and pheasant. His hobbies included NASCAR, Cleveland Browns football, the Buckeyes, gardening, reading and WWII history.

After graduating from Hartford High School in 1960, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, with service in Korea. His military service reflected his courage, discipline and strong sense of duty.

Following an honorable discharge, Ron went to work and retired as a meat cutter from Sparkle Market in Cortland. He also supported and worked with his cousins' business, Jones Processing in Hartford.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda R. Sherwood Jones; along with his sisters, Velva Clupper (Bill) and Nancy Poltar.

Ron is survived by his daughters, Sharon Music-Zimmerman (Scott) and Kari Filipovich (Tim); grandchildren, who cherished his love, guidance and unwavering support, Tyler Zimmerman (Emily), Chad Filipovich and Connor Filipovich; sisters-in-law, Sondra Bates (Jim) and Arlene Fitzsimmons-Pratt (Tony); brother-in-law, Blair Sherwood (Emily); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; as well as his beloved cat, Tom, who rarely left his side.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Briceland Funeral Service, 379 state Route 7 SE, Brookfield, OH 44403.

A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
