Ricardo Hernandez 1936-2025
MINERAL RIDGE — Ricardo “Butch” Hernandez, 89, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 30, 2025, at his home.
Born Oct. 21, 1936, in Warren, he was the son of the late Manuel and Genoveva Rios Hernandez and was a lifelong area resident.
A proud Army veteran, Butch served his country with honor. He worked at the General Motors Lordstown Plant for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he was employed by RMI Titanium and Luntz Iron and Steel.
Outside of work, Butch was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan. He never turned down an opportunity to go out to eat and cherished time spent with friends and family.
His beloved wife, the former Cathryn Jane Donahue, whom he married June 25, 1965, preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 2011.
Butch leaves behind his stepdaughter, Donna (Robert) Fatula of Deerfield; his grandson, Donald Ohl; and his brother, John “Ruby” Hernandez of Niles.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a stepson, David Jones; his sister, Mary Louise Wilson; and seven brothers, Jessie, Alex, Anthony, Salvadore, Manuel, Joseph and Robert Hernandez.
Family and friends may call 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Hospice of the Valley.
