Maryann Brown 1948-2025

Maryann was born June 9, 1948, in Youngstown, the daughter of Steve and Yolanda Ragazzo Demetruk and stepdaughter of Hugh Meek.

Maryann retired reluctantly as a longtime phlebotomist in 2022 due to health issues and had previously worked as a bartender at the former Kay Lanes bowling alley in Girard, where she was also an avid bowler. She was a member of St. Rose Church, also in Girard.

Maryann loved reading, collecting everything “Wizard of Oz,” watching TV game shows, hosting pool parties, traveling, playing cards, going to the casino with her girlfriends, and cooking and teaching her granddaughters family recipes.

Maryann was preceded in death in 2022 by her husband and best friend of 53 years, Dave, whom she married April 27, 1968.

She leaves behind her sons, Jeffery (Janine) Brown of Chantilly, Virginia, Donny Brown of Girard and Jason (Sara Jo) Brown of Brookfield; her beloved grandchildren, Gabriella, Hallie, Brysen and Braedyn; extended family; and many cherished friends whom she loved and cared for deeply.

Besides her husband and parents, Maryann was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Carol Demetruk Desantis; and brother, Larry Demetruk.

Respecting Maryann’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions be made to Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna, OH 44473, in memory of Maryann.
