Frederick J. Molek 1952-2025

BRISTOLVILLE -- Frederick J. Molek, 73, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, Dec. 1, 2025, at his home, following an extended illness.

Fred was born Aug. 13, 1952, in Ravenna, to the late Frederick E. Molek and the late Genevieve Hudson Molek.

He was a 1970 graduate of Champion High School and attended Kent State University.

Fred was employed at Copperweld Steel for 29 years, and retired from WCI Steel Inc., after 12 years of employment.

He was a long time member of the West Farmington Masonic Lodge No. 507. Fred also served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT for the Bristol Fire Department in the late 1980s. Fred had many hobbies and interests throughout his life, including cars, planes, watching football, scuba diving, farming and spending time with his family and pets. He will be remembered most for his contagious smile and laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Richards Molek; daughter, Courtney (Mike) Mahan, and granddaughter, Alexandria Mahan; siblings, Roz (Jeff) Huggins and Denny (Joyce) Allen; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his second mother, Alma Davis Molek; and sister, Elizabeth Lou Szuch.

In honoring Fred's wishes, no services will be held.

Arrangements will be handled by Borowski Funeral Services and Oak Meadow Cremation Services, including a private burial, at a later date, in Sager Cemetery, Bristolville.

The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to Buckeye Hospice and his caregiver for the loving care provided to Fred in his final months.
