FARMDALE -- Diana McElrath Shimko, 68, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Diana was born Jan. 6, 1957, in West Branch, Michigan, a daughter of the late LeRoy William and Arlene Hively McElrath.
She was a graduate of Mathews High School and worked at the Johnston Senior Center before retiring as the director. She enjoyed camping at Ridge Ranch and spending time with her grandchildren, especially showing them how to cook and sew, and sharing her love for painting.
Diana will be deeply missed by her loving husband, George Shimko, whom she married Jan. 13, 1990; three sons, Andrew (Larissa) McElrath and Anthony McElrath of Newton Falls, and William McElrath of Bay City, Michigan; three stepsons, Shawn (Stephanie) Shimko of Warren, Timothy (Julie) Shimko of Cortland and Christopher (Margo) Shimko of Howland; three grandsons, Andrew, Wm. Carter and Parker McElrath; five granddaughters, Korin and Gabrielle Shimko, Abigail (Joseph) Campbell, Saylor (Robert) Gottleber and Zoe McElrath; and two great-grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald.
Family and friends may visit 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St., Cortland, with funeral services at 1 p.m.
Internment will follow in All Souls Burial Park in Bazetta Township.
