WARREN -- Cathy L. McAleer, 72, passed away at 8:31 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, following a long illness.
She was born Aug. 30, 1953, in Warren, a daughter of Harlan and Ruby Mae Allender Johnson.
She was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and was of the Christian faith.
An angel amongst us, she loved family gatherings and the holidays; Christmastime was her favorite. Cathy enjoyed dining out, Biible study, watching soap operas and her favorite sports teams. An intellectual person, she knew the name of every flower in the garden.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Hugh L. McAleer, whom she married Jan. 29, 1998; four children, Lori (Thomas) Villio of Howland, Rachelle (Richard) Lewis of Niles, Julie (Michael) Grubbs of Mineral Ridge and Paul Rohrbaugh III of Howland; 12 grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Cassie, Rebekah, Darren, Ryan, Gavin, Sadie, Giullianna, Pierson, Gaige, Caselee, Robert and Enzo; siblings, Joyce Arcuri and Debbie Kajtar, both of Austintown, and Paul (Marsha) Johnson and Peter (Lorrie) Johnson, both of Howland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pamela L. Kunkle; brother, Rob Johnson; niece, Jennifer Lovejoy; and brother-in-law, Michael Arcuri.
A funeral will begin 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
