NILES -- Patrick M. Kelly, 69, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 6, 1956, in Youngstown to William "Tiny" and Dorothy O'Neil Kelly, Pat was a lifelong resident of Niles.
He was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Deborah Tripodi Kelly; they were married June 16, 1979.
Pat was a devoted husband and father to Erin (William) Slater of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Michael (Danielle) Kelly of Niles, and a loving "bonus daughter," Laura Kraft of Niles. He especially cherished being "Papa" to his granddaughter, Harper Slater.
He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Kay (Michael) Gearhart, Blanche (Dave) Zipnock, Mary Kay (Joseph) Chinelli and Noreen (Doug) Anstrom; his brother-in-law, Anthony Tripodi; and many nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Anthony and Mickey Tripodi; and his beloved aunt and uncle, James and Catherine Steele. He will be interred alongside his cherished black labs, Zoey and Taylor, affectionately known as "the girls."
Pat worked for 30 years as a Journeyman Lineman for the City of Niles, and previously worked with his father at the Niles Vault Company. He enjoyed Notre Dame football, Miller Lite, golfing-especially his annual trips with family and friends, daily coffee chats at Dunkin' Donuts and time with friends at the ITAM. He took great pride in maintaining the best lawn in the neighborhood.
Family meant everything to Pat. He cherished holidays, St. Patrick's Day and time spent with his large extended family.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at St. Pope John XXIII Parish – Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niles.
